Established in 2020, The Bigger Picture is a film club showing classic movies, once a month at the Newport Bowling Club. We are a not for profit community initiative that gives back to the local charities and brings people together for an entertaining evening.

Meetings are a social gathering as much as a cultural event. You have the option of arriving early and enjoying drinks from the bar plus food with friends – bring your own or order food which will be delivered to your table – or just come for the movie. Each screening is preceded by a light and entertaining talk giving an insight into the movie’s production.

Membership is generally for a 6 month subscription.

MEMBERSHIP

After a successful trial season in 2020 and a slightly interrupted schedule in 2021 and 2022 due to Covid restrictions, we're now inviting existing members and prospective members to join for the first half of 2024.  Five month memberships are available (up to five films) at a cost of $35 per person.  If you are joining mid-season, a pro-rata rate will apply.

We are a proudly non-profit voluntary community association, which aims to keep membership fees to a bare minimum.

If you would like to re-register or join for the first time, please send an email to info@thebiggerpicture.club with the names and email details of the prospective members. We’ll reply giving you details on how to pay.

We aim to offer our members a good cross section of genre's and movies.  Our 2023 season included Juno, The Big Lebowski, 12 Angry Men, Bend it Like Beckham and The Dressmaker to name a few.  Don't think the repertoire is limited to only films. Shockingly, in December, The Bigger Picture team performed a pantomime, Cinderella - Will she go to the Bowlo?  This was followed by a screening of The Princess Bride, a movie for members and their families.  Our first half of our 2024 season promises to be as engaging and entertaining as always, offering a diverse range of movies to our members, commencing with a tribute film to the late Tom Wilkinson, The Full Monty.   The Bigger Picture is community focussed and is a great night out.  See for yourself and become a member.
